About Miva Madness

Welcome to .MVC Madness (aka Miva Madness)

It is always nice to know the man behind the mask, and in this case the writer behind all the content on this site. My name is Brennan. I am a 24 year old web developer living in San Diego, CA.

Background

I went to school at Chapman University in Orange County (it is just a few minutes from Disneyland). While there, I studied Computer Science with an emphasis in Intergraded Circuit Design (ICD). Basically I was studying to be a microchip designer. While it was interesting, it just wasn’t for me. I knew once I graduated I wanted to do something with the web, and that is exactly what I did.

I graduated from Chapman with my BS in Computer Science. I came back to San Diego, and got a job as a web developer for a small design agency. It was there I was first introduced to Miva Merchant. (Honestly, I had never heard of it before). For the next 2 years I was the lead developer on all the web projects. I organized, planned, and implemented all the e-commerce solutions – most using Miva Merchant. Because of my background in programming, I quickly picked up Miva and mastered the art of customizing it. I got to work with both Miva 5, and Miva 4 which greatly helped a lot.

Here are a couple of the bigger projects I worked on:

Sk8trip.com

Sk8trip is distribution company for the #1 long board skateboard wheel line in the country, Abec 11.

Sk8trip

We created a fully custom Miva store which includes a retail side for retail customers, and also a wholesale side for all their wholesale customers. This allows all their wholesale customers to place orders online and receive their special discount pricing.

Wetsuitwearhouse.com

Wetsuitwearhouse is the biggest seller of wetsuits online.

In October of 2007, I helped them upgrade their design to a more e-commerce friendly and visually appealing look. They currently use Miva 4 for their backend and because of their easier to navigate and great looking site, their sales have never been better.

Currently, I work from home as an e-commerce consultant and Miva Developer. I also spend a lot of my time researching and writing for this site, MVC Madness.com. I am in the process of developing a new e-book created from the content of this site which should be out in early 2008.

I primarily work with clients who are looking for high-end, fully custom, e-commerce solutions. All the designs are done by professional designers who I work with, and all the programming and marketing is done by me. I am always looking for new clients who are looking to take their e-commerce presence to the next level. Feel free to contact me for a quote.
